Our Sinnis Flair 50cc moped available for hire must be over 16 years old

If you hold a provisional moped licence you need to:
  • Complete the (CBT) Compulsory Basic Training course.
    • You may now ride a moped on public roads displaying "L" plates on the bike.
    • You MUST NOT ride a moped on a motorway.
    • You MUST NOT carry a pillion passenger.
    • Remember the CBT certificate only lasts for 2 years after this it must be retaken.

  • Pass the motorcycle Theory test.
    • Your theory certificate will be valid for 2 years.
    • You will need this certificate for both parts of your practical test so keep it safe.
  • Pass your off-road (Module 1) practical test.
  • Pass your on-road (Module 2) Practical test.
    • You can now discard your "L" plates.
    • You are now allowed to carry a pillion passenger.
    • You MUST NOT ride a moped on a motorway.
If you hold a full car licence and passed your test before 1st February 2001 you can:
  • Ride without "L" plates.
  • Carry a pillion passenger.
  • You MUST NOT ride a moped on a motorway.
If you hold a full car licence and passed your test after 1st February 2001 you need to:
  • Complete the Compulsory Basic Training course.
    • Your CBT certificate will last for the life of your driving licence.
    • You can ride without "L" plates.
    • You can carry a pillion passenger.
    • You MUST NOT ride a moped on a motorway.
If you hold a full motorcycle licence you can:
  • Ride without "L" plates.
  • Carry a pillion passenger.
  • You MUST NOT ride a moped on a motorway.
